Last week was National Volunteer Week. As has been our custom we  honored our volunteers with a program and lunch. On Saturday April 21 we invited our much-appreciated HQ helpers to a special presentation of excerpts from an oral history video interview of Cherry Balaban Robins, daughter of A. J. Balaban, a founder of Balaban & Katz. It was recorded at her home in New York by Archive Director Kathy McLeister and Publications Director Ken Bloom last December.

Following the presentation 19 volunteers and staff enjoyed lunch at the Standard Restaurant in Elmhurst. THS Board Member Dave Syfczak  updated us on the status of the Uptown Theatre, Chicago. A note of thanks from President Karen Colizzi Noonan and the THS Board was also read.

THS hopes to screen the Cherry Balaban Robins interview for members at a later date.
