Behind the Scenes at the THS Archives:

A new donation for the Archives arrived today. Six large boxes full of architectural drawings of theatres in the Washington, DC Area were donated by a theatre operator from DC. The donor created an Excel sheet with a preliminary inventory of the drawings as well as had an appraiser view the drawings. There are roughly forty theatres represented with drawing dates ranging from the early 1960s to the late 1990s. The appraiser’s valuation of the collection is approximately $10,000.

The Archives will be busily processing this donation and the information will be added to our Collection Database as well as the index of blueprints in the collections. It will take a few months to completely identify, process, and re-house the nearly 1,900 pages of blueprints. Once the collection is in order, it will be made available to the public for research.
