Day Two of THS 2012 Conclave/Theatre Tour.

Here it is: my first official Readerboard post about our conclave and Theatre Tour!  Archive Director, Kathy McLeister has been doing a wonderful job of keeping you posted on our progress through the beautiful central valley of California but today is my turn.  In case you’re wondering, this is Rick Fosbrink, your new THS Executive Director.  We have had absolutely beautiful weather here and I’m enjoying meeting members from all over the United States, Canada, England and Australia.

Today we stopped by the amazing Sacramento Memorial Auditorium and Jean Runyon Little Theatre where we were treated to some music provided by the original house

theatre organ.  Next we traveled to Auburn to see the State Theatre.  The State is well on the way to becoming a jewel of a performing arts center for the community.  You can check out their website at http://www.livefromauburn.com/.

Our next stop took us to the Del Oro Theatre in Grass Valley.  What a wonderful family owned and operated theatre and a beautiful little town!  Check out the Del Oro’s website at http://www.sierracinemas.com/deloro.asp.

We had a great lunch on the Delta King Riverboat, stopped by the Crest Theatre in Sacramento and then ventured on to the Varsity Theatre in Davis.  You can check out the Varsity Theatre at http://www.davisvarsity.net/pages/index.php.

THS member Wendell Jacobs invited all of us to his home to see the Moeller Theatre Organ he installed in his home theatre.  The organ was originally installed in the lobby of the Fox Theatre in San Francisco.  I was really taken with the organ and the many other instruments that Wendell had in his home.  I really enjoyed the Wurlitzer Band Organ!

Our final stop for the day was the Esquire IMAX Theatre to enjoy a screening of “To the Arctic 3D.”

Our days are full of adventure and excitement and tomorrow will be no different.  We’ll be hitting Stockton, Visalia, Tracy, Merced, Modesto and Fresno!  Check back for tomorrow’s update and share our posts on Facebook.  Help us spread the word about THS!

  1. This all sounds great, but I liked seeing the slide show from Day One…..

I’m sorry I couldn’t make the 2012 Conclave but this is a fairly good substitute. To be missing out on all the towns and theatres is a bummer…….”J”
