Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania known as the “Steel City,” and the “City of Bridges” will host our 2014 Conclave Theatre Tour.
Home to the world’s first Nickelodeon, Pittsburgh is chock-full of internationally renowned venues that we can’t wait to share with you.
We’ll start the tour in the heart the Steel City, visiting Heinz Hall, Benedum Center, The Byham Theatre, The O’Reilly Theatre and The Harris Theatre. In a new friendship with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, we’ll receive unprecedented back-stage access to these architectural gems. Next we’ll take you on a stroll through the unique neighborhoods of Oakland, Dormont, Carnegie, Homestead, McKees Rocks, and East Liberty.

Have you ever stopped into THS on a Saturday?
In addition to keeping regular office hours during the week, THS is also open one Saturday a month for people who are interested in conducting research or helping us with volunteer projects.
This upcoming Saturday, June 7th from 9:30am-2pm, we invite you to come and visit us at the THS main office in Elmhurst above the York Theatre. The full staff will be here, and we’d love to meet you.
If you’ve always wanted a Conclave Theatre Tour to go to a place you’ve never been to before, Rick will be here with an open chair.

The Member of the Year Award recognizes an individual or organizational member of THS who has continuously demonstrated outstanding leadership, achievement, and contribution to the Society and its purposes, or been instrumental in work on outside projects in keeping with the aims of THS.
The Honorary Member of the Year Award recognizes a non-member individual or organization who has demonstrated outstanding efforts for THS or been instrumental in work outside the organization in keeping with its purposes.

THS is pleased to put out its annual CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for the Board of Directors.
Who is eligible: Any member in good standing.
Who we are seeking: Interested individuals who share a commitment to helping THS excel as the foremost theatre archival/historical organization in the U.S.
Desirable Qualifications: General appreciation and knowledge of historic theatres. Skill or experience in any of the following areas – finance, fundraising, computers, public relations, publicity, marketing, historic preservation. Previous experience serving on a board of directors.
Deadline for Nominations: March 15, 2014.

THEATRE HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO HOST PUBLIC AFTER-HOURS OPEN HOUSE AND DEDICATION OF RESEARCH & EDUCATION CENTER.
ELMHURST, IL – You’re cordially invited to join the Theatre Historical Society of America (THS) on January 24, 2014 for a public Open House from 6-8 P.M. at its headquarters above the York Theatre in Elmhurst.
During the event, THS will also unveil the new Willis & Shirley Johnson and Classic Cinemas Research & Education Center, named after local philanthropists Willis and Shirley Johnson whose Tivoli Enterprises, Inc./Classic Cinemas provided leadership support for the THS office renovation project this past fall.
“We have the largest collection of theatre architecture-related materials in North America and we wanted to make sure our space was best suited for researchers coming to visit Elmhurst and our collections,” said Richard Fosbrink, Executive Director about the renovation.
“We were extremely lucky to have the generous support of Willis and Shirley Johnson in this project. In recognition of their leadership support, we’re thrilled to name our new Research & Education Center after them in gratitude.”
The Open House is open to the public, RSVP is recommended.
