Stanley Executive Director Says Farewell

UTICA – Ronald L. Thiele Jr., long-serving Executive Director of the Stanley, announced his resignation this week to pursue his continued interests in the arts.

During his 13 years of service to the Central New York Community Arts Council, Mr. Thiele led the organization through a capital campaign and major renovation of the Stanley Theatre. The Stagehouse Expansion was designed to position the Stanley to be a centerpiece of economic and cultural growth in the region.

Donna M. Donovan, president of the Board of Directors of the Stanley, said, “The community owes a great deal of gratitude to Ron for his loyalty and devotion to the arts in our area. Ron provided excellent leadership as we refashioned the Stanley into a world-class performing arts center.”

Elizabeth Tantillo will serve as interim Executive Director while a board Search Committee is formed to identify a replacement for Mr. Thiele. Ms. Tantillo has taken a leave of absence from the board of directors, which she served as vice president of strategic planning.

The Central New York Community Arts Council, doing business as theStanley, is an umbrella community arts organization that provides facilities, support services and individual arts programs to arts organizations, artists and residents of Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties. The Stanley also operates the Arts in Education Institute, and leads the Decentralization Regrant Program of the New York State Council on the Arts for this region.
