SEYMOUR — The Culture and Arts Commission is on a mission to preserve the historic Strand Theater by giving it a much-needed makeover.

To that end, the commission is inviting people to a “Save Our Strand” fundraiser at 7 p.m. Monday at Zois’ Pizza Palace, 48 Main St. The event, sponsored by Zois’, Crown Liquors and Eder Bros. liquor distributors, will feature beer and wine tasting, along with a bevy of appetizers. Tickets for the event are $25 in advance, and can be purchased at Zois’ or by calling 203-888-1131.

Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event for $30.

The Strand, a mainstay at 165 Main St. for decades, will be the sole beneficiary of the proceeds from the event, according to Linda Bellavance, a member of the Culture and Arts Commission, which oversees the running of the theater.
