From the Archives: Father’s Day in Hollywood

Publicity folder from the Loew’s Collection, Theatre Historical Society of America, Elmhurst, IL

We continue to be busy in the Archives working to process, arrange, and describe the collections as well as to properly house the materials.  One project this week was to take Loew’s Movie Memos out of old 3-ring binders and move them into folders and boxes.  In the process we discovered several publicity stills relating to hollywood stars as fathers.  Since Father’s Day is just around the corner, we are sharing with you a sample from the collection.

Below you see hollywood star Kirk Douglas with two of his sons, Michael and Joel.  The caption provided with the photo reads: Obviously embarrassed by the cameraman are Kirk Douglas’ two sons, Joel (left) and Michael.  Kirk still wearing the chin whiskers he sports in MGM’s “Lust For Life”, dramatic life story of painter Vincent Van Gogh, tries to make the best of it.
