LEWISBURG, Pa. — Gov. Ed Rendell on Monday became the first recipient of the Bucknell University President’s Medal for his support and commitment to more than $20 million of “town and gown” economic development projects in downtown Lewisburg and a $4 million rails-to-trails initiative.
Bucknell President Brian C. Mitchell presented the governor with the award during a ceremony at the Campus Theatre, one of several downtown buildings that will undergo renovations with the help of state grants and University funding. Other planned projects include improvements to a federal post office building and the historic Dewitt building, which Mitchell noted will be “pivotal” to the downtown economy.
