Lansdowne Theatre, PA 1st event in decades!

Howard Haas sent this in. In 1927, the LANSDOWNE Theatre opened in Delaware County. The movie palace, with 1,381 seats, was designed in the style of romantic Spain. The lobby and
foyer were designed in the Spanish Mission style. The decor of the
auditorium was influenced by Spanish Baroque architecture. The Lansdowne
closed in 1987. Efforts to reopen have continued ever since. The Lansdowne
is the grandest of all the theatres that are closed, yet surviving, in the
Philadelphia suburbs.

A fundraising concert will be held in the theater itself on Saturday, April
17. That’s the first time an event will be held in the theater since it
closed. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the efforts of the nonprofit
organization that is working to reopen the Lansdowne.
