Belasco / Republic Theatre, Los Angeles, the "old" Follies

LATEST MARQUEE ON ITS WAY

Belasco / Republic Theatre, Los Angeles, the "old" Follies

The latest issue of our journal Marquee was mailed today to all 2011 members thanks to the help of 4 dedicated volunteers who stuffed the envelopes.

It features two Jeffrey Weiss Memorial Writing Competition winning stories.  One is  on blue movies being shown in Milwaukee theatres in the 60s and 70s, the other explains why there was “No X in Oklahoma” theatres.  A third story is by our long time, late member John Wright recalling his days in the 1960s as a stagehand at the “new” Follies Burlesque (Burbank Theatre) in Los Angeles and uses his candid snapshots taken there.

Looking forward to this. Marquee coverage of these types of theatres is long overdue.
