A bygone era of yesteryear is coming back to life in downtown Leesburg: The reopening of historic Tropic Theater with the Thursday midnight showing of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” a film that is generating buzz nationwide.

“We’re already pre-selling tickets and I’m pretty sure this place will be sold out,” said Russ Brannan, a veteran movie theater operator who owns 44 theaters nationwide and is adding the Tropic to the mix.

He believes it has every potential to be a success.

“I’m gambling on it,” he said, recalling how he fell for the charm of the vintage 278-seat theater, which first opened in 1932 and showed its last film in 1994. …
