Lincoln film premieres at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond VA

THS member JIM JOHNSON tells us that the prestigious new film by Steven Spielberg had its southern premiere in the beautiful Byrd Theatre in Richmond, VA.

Jim writes:  Attached is an article which appeared in the Fredericksburg Free Lance Star on November 11th regarding the “Lincoln” premiere at Richmond’s Byrd Theatre.  The article has a fantastic photo of the Byrd’s auditorium with attendees listening to a welcome speech by Virginia’s Governor.  This article further reveals the impact of filming in the Richmond and Tri-City area. I thought the photo might give individuals who have never been inside the Byrd a peek of what this grand movie palace looks like.

  1. The original post of this story incorrectly identified the director. It has been corrected. The Author will no longer be posting after midnight to avoid such glaring errors in the future. : )

Rebecca and I and my brother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed “Lincoln,” at the Carmike Cinemas in Apple valley, MN, last week while visiting my in-laws. And I thoroughly enjoyed the Byrd Theatre in Richmond during the 1992 Conclave.
