London Palladium, which celebrated its centenary last year, is now offering theatre fans a chance to get a glimpse of 100 years of theatre history through the Palladium’s guided tours.
Tour dates for 2012 are currently scheduled for Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 9, April 13, May 18, June 8, July 13, Aug. 3, Sept. 14 and Oct. 12.
The tours, which last a minimum of two hours, begin at 11:30 AM London time.
“With displays of memorabilia throughout the building celebrating its rich heritage and the major stars that have appeared on stage, the tour will also take in areas not usually open to the public as well as the new facilities and areas recently refurbished as part of the centenary celebrations. The route may vary according to the building’s daily activities and the walk will involve several long flights of stairs,” according to press notes.
The London Palladium opened on Boxing Day 1910 and since then has hosted Music Hall, Variety, Revue, Pantomime and musicals.
“As there are lots of stairs, the tour is not recommended for the infirm and ladies are advised to wear flat shoes,” according to the press release.
