Management Changes in 2012 for THS!

There are exciting changes in store for Theatre Historical Society in 2012!Our long-time Executive Director, Richard Sklenar, has decided that on June 1 he will step into a new, part-time role for THS, that of Education Outreach Coordinator.  This will allow him to focus on public speaking engagements, networking with other archives and museums on a local, state and national level as well as seeking out opportunities to bring THS’s message to a wider audience.  Richard will also utilize his vast historical knowledge to assist Editor Ken Bloom in creating Marquee each quarter and assist in plans for publication projects on a much larger scale. (Stay tuned!)

THS is immediately launching a nation-wide Executive Director search with the assistance of Genovese & Vanderhoof Associates, a well-respected arts and cultural organization management consulting firm.  We are fortunate to have the services of Margaret Genovese available to us at this exciting yet challenging time in THS’s history.  We plan to make a selection and have a new Executive Director in place by the June 1 transition.

Our archive will continue to be under the excellent oversight of Kathy McLeister while Freeda Cannon will still be that friendly voice on the phone when you call.

When the dust settles, we will have a strong, vibrant, focused operation to further professionalize Theatre Historical Society.  But rest assured we will always remain true to Ben Hall’s initial vision:  just a bunch of like-minded folks who LOVE old theaters!

  1. Finally, THS will become a professionally run organization (hopefully). A huge leap from a group of hobbyists! Good Luck THS.

  2. I haven’t seen Richard in person since 2003 so I guess he’s getting older but even if you had to preserve him in formaldehyde to keep him, I’d rather Richard stay full time. He’s been that good for THSA.
