MICHIGAN THEATRE, DETROIT MICHIGAN

FROM DETROIT THS FRIEND GARY ISTOK

Architects Rapp and Rapp’s huge, palatial Michigan Theatre found new life years ago as a parking deck. Concrete ramps were added but much original plaster work remains to this day, a haunting reminder of this major movie palaces better days. Perhaps the nearby United Artists can soon join the revamped Fox, State, Gem, Music Hall and Detroit Opera House / Capitol in bringing better days to downtown Detroit with hundreds of cars parking at the Michigan.

A YOUTUBE playlist of interviews from the 3D cinematographer of the movie AVATAR (he won an Oscar for it). These interviews were taken inside different sections of the former Michigan auditorium.
