Paramount Thr/Peekskill NY to close

Very sad news, reported by  THS Member JOHN FAUST.  The Peekskill theater seems to be a victim of our sad economy in this country.  Since the story reports that the closing came as a “surprise” to City officials and local residents (despite a fundraising appeal and Gala),  perhaps a plan of action can be developed to bring the beautiful theater back to life.

Another sad story…looking at all of these theaters, I think the Paramount chain and the Fox chain had the glitzy theaters…some what overdone….The Warner chain was a little more sedate ala the Stanley…..movie palace for sure but not so much rococo! the Loews chain seemed somewhere in the middle…..there you have it. The thesis for my theater architecture dissertation !
