Planned: Clarendon, Texas – Mulkey Theatre

What to do with Mulkey Theatre

CLARENDON,TEXAS — The Clarendon Economic Development Corporation bought the historical Mulkey Theatre in downtown Clarendon over a year ago. Now they are trying to figure out what to do next. The theatre has been around since the 1940′s but hasn’t been used since 1984. Folks in Clarendon want to keep the old theatre as part of it’s look for downtown. So what’s the first step for the EDC?

“Have the marquee restored and lit up, and have the front of the building fixed up and painted, and get it looking good again, and then we’ll step back and see what our funding looks like and what we can do on the interior of the building,” said Roger Estlack with the Clarendon EDC. Estlack says they’ve already put a new roof on the theatre.
