Planned: Denver, CO – Elitch Gardens Theatre

Davidson: Leachman helps Elitch Theatre effort

Let’s see: The last time anyone saw an Academy Award-winning actress sitting on the floor of RedLine gallery was, uh, never.

Unless you happened to be there the night Cloris Leachman helped raise $25,000 for the restoration of Historic Elitch Gardens Theatre. Engaging and unpredictable — in the best possible way — she sat on the floor while board members Paul Franke and Jose Mercado talked about the importance of bringing new life to what had been the nation’s first theater built for summer-stock productions, jumping up when Mercado asked her to share memories of appearances she had made on the local stage.
