Newton Theatre to re-open as Performing Arts Center Will present Concerts, Comedy, Theatre, Dance and Film.

Newton NJ

Owners Jonathan Peirce and Paul Larena have contracted to purchase The Newton Theatre at 234 Spring Street.

Their goal is to return the theatre to its original splendor and serve as Sussex County’s largest full-time Performing Arts Center presenting Concerts, Comedy, Theatre, Dance and Film.

“Newton is right on the edge of a renaissance similar to Morristown was a few short years ago, and we believe the Theatre can be an important component”, said Peirce, who resides in Sparta.

They have extensive experience in theatre restoration, most recently at the Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown. They also own 5 Point Event Production Services, which provides technical and production support to many of the world’s top artists and corporations. Larena, of East Hanover adds,

“We are very excited to be coming to Newton and bringing world-class talent to the community.”

Opening is scheduled for mid July 2011. Applications for Box Office, Stagehands, Maintenance and Ushers are available on the theatre’s website. I have been a local business owner in Newton for the last twenty years and I am delighted with what you are doing with the Newton Theatre. I had a fantasy about buying it mysels and removong the wall returning the full size screen and opening a dinner theatre.
With that said my business is in designing and building amazing interiors and my facility is about three blocks from your site. I would love the oppertunity as a local business person to help in the rejuvination of this important landmark in our town.
If you are interested in speaking with me regarding engaging my services for your project please call me at 973-271-6500 Cell or my office # 973-579-4880.

What a beautiful renovation to the Theatre. We attended the Jesse Garron show, and must say, he was the absolutely fantastic. It is amazing that there is someone out there, that sounds, and looks so much like the King himself. His so was so envigorating, and fun. We thought we really were at an Elvis concert. We hope you have him back again soon.We cannot believe the natural talent he has, plus it was so nice of him to greet people after the show. What a fantastic person!!! We certainly have been spreading the word about his shows.Thank you for hiring such wonderful entertainment.
