Landis Theater adds finishing touches before grand opening

VINELAND — Bernadette Peters’ voice will fill the city’s new performing center in four days.
But on Tuesday, the sounds at Landis Theater came from workers busily attending to the finishing touches at the culmination of a nearly yearlong effort to restore an aging city landmark.
Moving through their mental checklist of tasks, roughly two-dozen men this week are painting, laying down carpet, installing doorknobs, testing equipment, and preparing the new theater and restaurant for hundreds of guests who will arrive for this weekend’s grand opening.
Developer Hans Lampart moved through the building, giving instructions here, sanding a wooden rail there, all to keep the various workers in motion.
