Tickets went on sale last week for a slate of events that will celebrate the reopening of Thalian Hall in May.
The main stage of the historic Wilmington theater, which was built in 1858, has been closed for renovations since September, although events have continued to be held in the ballroom and the studio theater.
After a two-night, invite-only grand opening May 14-15, the first public event is May 16, when Wilmington playwright and composer R.V. Fulk’s musical “The Madness of May” makes its debut on the main stage. (It was produced in Thalian Hall’s studio theater in 2007.)
It’ll be an appropriate kickoff for the theater’s first extensive renovations since 1990, which will get a spring awakening of sorts after the madness of six months of construction.
