Residents Not Lovin’ McDonald’s Plans for Theater [Detroit Theatre, Lakewood, Ohio]

LAKEWOOD, Ohio—

A group of concerned citizens gathered at the Lakewood Public Library Wednesday night for a private strategy session to save the Old Detroit Theater in Lakewood.

McDonald’s wants to tear down Lakewood history and we don’t want that to happen,” resident Charles Milsaps said.

McDonald’s is considering purchasing the nearly 90-year-old theater on Detroit Road for approximately $700,000. Then, the property would be demolished to make room for a new McDonald’s store .

McDonald’s spokesperson Joe Woods released the following statement…
