That’s a wrap: Demolition of Orland Park theater under way [Orland Park, IL]

September 29, 2011 10:48PM

A once-popular Orland Park movie theater that has been vacant for more than a decade finally has begun its final scene.

Credits won’t be rolling, but heavy equipment is.

Demolition of the former Orland Square Theater began Wednesday, and construction crews are to work throughout the week to bring down the theater, according to Bandy Carroll Hellige, a public relations firm for Simon Property Group, which operates Orland Square Mall.

The demolition will make way for construction to begin on Dave & Buster’s, a restaurant, bar and family arcade complex. The Orland Park Village Board approved a development agreement with Dave & Buster’s earlier this month.
