Threatened: El Reno, OK – Centre Theatre

Part of Old Theater In El Reno Collapses

posted 04/29/10 4:53 pm   posted by: Kevin King

El Reno – It’s believed Thursday’s strong winds are to blame for a partial building collapse at El Reno’s historic Centre Theatre.

It happened at about 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon. There were no injuries reported, but cars parked in front of the building did suffer some damage.

The Centre Theatre recently underwent renovations last year. It is listed among the League of Historic American Theaters.

The building was home not only to the theater, but also the city’s convention and visitors bureau.

Winds in the El Reno area were gusting to near 45 miles per hour this afternoon.
