We have a great roster of volunteers here at THS that are doing invaluable work cataloging, photographing, and indexing some of our many collections. We’d like to take a moment to shine a light on the work they’re doing with us here in Elmhurst and thank them.
Elizabet Biggio is working with our artifact and 3D object collection. She has been photographing terracotta pieces, various theatre signs and objects found in the collections. Elizabet has also been creating cataloging records for these objects to make those records searchable in our online catalog.
Jim Fortsas has been working on indexing the slides in the Steve Levin collection, which he wrapped up this past week. Next up Jim will start working on the paper documents from the Levin collection and once he is finished with that he will create a finding aid for the collection that will be uploaded to the THS website.
Bruce Cutter is nearly finished working on an archival assessment of the entire THS collection. This will allow us to examine our holdings and prioritize maintenance and rehousing efforts and to make sure everything is represented online. After Bruce is done with the assessment he will start indexing the Thomas R. DuBuque Collection.
Kris Lipkowski is our newest volunteer who started this week. Kris jumped right in and started cataloging the holdings in the John Wright collection which is over 70 boxes of photographs and other materials.
Stetson Cross (who has ended his time with us) worked on cataloging and rehousing the David Naylor Collection and rehousing sections of our extensive blueprint collection.
We’d also like to thank the following volunteers who over the past year have contributed, with those mentioned above, nearly 500 hours of their time to our collections:
