Wayne, MI-Historic State Wayne Phoenix Theatre to unveil its new digital-era look

The State Wayne may have achieved senior status, but that doesn’t mean it’s too old for a state-of-the-art makeover.

A fixture on Michigan Avenue in downtown Wayne for more than 60 years, the movie theater is having a grand reopening ceremony Saturday to celebrate a technology upgrade that took months to complete.

The revamped State Wayne has digital projection and sound systems, larger screens, 3D capability, an updated lobby and concession stand and repairs to the classic art-deco marquee.
